BIOGRAPHY

CHRIS ELI RAZO has been in film and theatre professionally since 2011. Initially, as an actor, he received the Best Actor Honors at the Sinulog Film Festival in 2012 for the short film Feeling the Faith and the Best Actor in the 2013 Mindanao Film Festival for the Bisaya film Ang Walay Kahumang Adlaw. (The Infinite Sun).

He then started writing, producing, and directing his short films, which have been awarded and exhibited throughout the Philippines. He recently won his first Best Director Honor at the Sinulog Short Film Festival 2019. His most significant production was directing, co-producing, and co-writing his first full-length musical, “Heroes We Ca Be,” a 6-million school production by Singapore School Cebu, which played at SM Seaside Centerstage last Feb 11, 2017.

His latest short film, Usa Ka Libo (One Thousand) swept the awards during the 2019 Sinulog Short Film Festival, winning Best Sound & Musical Score, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director (for himself), & the overall Best Film Grand Champion.

He has been in the front and back of the camera and stage as an actor, assistant production designer, assistant director, co-producer, editor, writer, producer & director. He trained at the International Academy of Film and Television in Cebu under a full scholarship. During his training, he served as the assistant to the senior acting mentor, US Ensemble Studio Theatre member Alex Murphy.

He founded Studio Evision: A production studio based on Bantayan Island that caters to film and theatre productions. The studio has received grants from the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts and has provided workshops for the local community in film and theatre.

He is also the founder of LUSAD or Lumads Undertaking Strategies for Arts and Drama, a culture and arts group dedicated to educating and training artists on Bantayan Island. He was a graduate of Architecture at the University of San Carlos and is one of the top 10 graduates of his course.

He is an ICE (Innovation and Creative Entrepreneur) full scholar organized by the British Council and the Apl de Ap Foundation through Thames International. He is the founder and festival director of the BAMASA Film Festival on Bantayan Island.
